Annual Charity Cycle Ride with British Gypsum
Once again our intrepid MD Blaise Ford took to the saddle and rode out with the British Gypsum team. Starting at Barrow-on-Soar, Leicstershire at 7am on Saturday the 6th of June, 104 cyclist set out for Skegness! This year the group raised much needed funds for Sheffield Hospital, Spinal Ward.
Annual Charity Cycle Ride with British Gypsum
This annual charity cycle ride is very well organised. The route is almost 95 miles, with regular food stops every 20 miles or so. There were 2 vans backing up the riders, helping with flats and small repairs and giving lifts where needed and motorbike outriders ensuring everyone stayed on course. The last third of the ride turns into a bit of a race, anyone who knows Blaise, will know how competitive he is, he came in a very respectable 11th.
The ride was a lot of fun, everyone stopped for a beer at Wainfleet just outside Skegness, to allow all the riders to re-group so en-mass they rode into Skegness together.
Blaise comments: “The tail wind made the ride most enjoyable although I did spend the last 30 miles shifting around trying in vain to find a comfortable spot on the saddle”.
