Celebrating the Success of Our Open Day
Our Open Day last week was a fantastic success and we’re delighted to share some highlights with you. Despite the unexpected snowfall in the days leading up to the event, your enthusiasm and support made it a memorable occasion. Thank you to everyone who joined us, braving the chilly weather to spend the day exploring our facilities, connecting with industry experts and learning about our cutting-edge products.
The day was packed with activities and insightful presentations. We were privileged to be joined by experts from ABB, Hitachi, and Dart, who showcased a range of our products alongside some exciting new innovations. Their demonstrations not only highlighted the capabilities of our solutions but also sparked engaging discussions about how we can all drive efficiency and sustainability in our industries.
A massive thank you also goes to our hardworking IDS team, who went above and beyond to ensure the day ran smoothly. From preparing our facility to organising a delicious lunch that everyone thoroughly enjoyed, their dedication and teamwork were evident throughout the event.
It was great to see so many familiar faces and to welcome new friends into our community. Events like these remind us of the strength and diversity of the industries we serve and the value of coming together to share ideas, challenges and solutions.
Recap of Demonstrations and Insights from the IDS Open Day
Our Open Day was filled with engaging demonstrations and discussions, showcasing innovative solutions to improve energy efficiency, enhance system performance and support sustainability goals. Here’s a quick summary of the key highlights:
- Energy Saving Demonstrations: We explored how Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) can significantly reduce energy consumption and costs. Attendees learned about the role of high-efficiency motors, including IE4 and IE5, in achieving carbon reduction targets.
- ABB PLC and HMI Range: The presenters from ABB presented their PLC, a versatile controller with modular design, advanced communication and scalable performance for industrial automation. Their HMI range impressed attendees with its intuitive interfaces, real-time data visualisation and seamless connectivity, ideal for boosting efficiency across various industries.
- Live Adaptive Programming Demos: The ABB ACS580 Adaptive Programming feature demonstrated how customised control functions within the drive can enhance energy efficiency and system performance without external controllers, addressing complex drive applications with ease.
- Condition Monitoring Solutions: ABB showcased cutting-edge Condition Monitoring tools, which use advanced sensors and analytics to predict failures and enable proactive maintenance, reducing downtime and enhancing equipment reliability.
- Low Harmonic and Power Factor Correction: Hitachi highlighted their power factor correction systems, optimising energy use and minimising reactive power losses, and their low harmonic filters, which improve power quality, protect sensitive equipment, and ensure compliance with standards.
- ABB Motor Range: ABB’s extensive portfolio of high-efficiency motors, including low and high-voltage options, was presented as key to achieving energy savings and sustainability goals across various sectors such as HVAC, water and manufacturing.
- Dart’s Innovations: The Dart team unveiled their advanced condition monitoring tools designed to prevent and reduce breakdowns by providing early warnings. These solutions are particularly valuable for critical plant applications where downtime is costly. By monitoring both inverter and environmental conditions—often the root cause of breakdowns—Dart’s systems offer a low-cost, proactive approach to ensuring operational reliability and efficiency.
These demonstrations underscored our shared commitment to innovation, energy efficiency, and sustainability, offering practical solutions to current industry challenges.
Our Commitment to Sustainability
We are particularly proud of our efforts to make this Open Day a carbon-neutral event. Thanks to everyone who completed our sustainability survey, we were able to calculate that attendee travel produced approximately 1,690 lbs of carbon emissions. To offset this impact within the first year of a tree’s lifecycle, we determined that we’d need to plant 36 trees. However, we’ve decided to round up and plant 50 trees through JustOne Tree. Together, we’re taking meaningful steps towards a greener future.
Looking Forward
Once again, thank you for your support and feedback during the Open Day. Whether you were reconnecting with us or meeting us for the first time, we’re grateful for the opportunity to share our passion for innovation and sustainability.
Here’s to continuing the conversations we started, exploring new opportunities and working together to drive positive change in the industries we serve. Keep an eye on our website and social channels for updates and we look forward to welcoming you to our next event!
