9th Annual CEMA Skegness Bike Ride
On 6:30am 30th June 15 intrepid cyclists started from CEMA HQ in Colwick on their way to Skegness.
9th Annual CEMA Skegness Bike Ride
The weather was wonderful but the easterly wind would eventually take its toll. For the first time there was an ‘e bike’ with us – Frank Ciaurro set this bike to ‘turbo’ and off he flew. Unfortunately, 12 miles from Skegness, the battery expired and Frank had the world’s heaviest bike to contend with.
As is traditional, the ladies at Stickney welcomed us all with a wonderful spread of tea and cakes to refresh us all for the last leg to Skegness. Between the Stickney ladies and CEMA, a marvellous £810 was raised for Maggie’s Charity.
We arrived in Skegness at 2:30pm, hot and tired but relished a cool glass of lager at the salubrious Suncastle Inn before the coach trip home and an Italian meal to round off a great day.
Our thanks to CEMA for inviting us, we look forward to seeing you again next year!
